BMS-236 Dual Port Serial Device Server

The BMS-xxx is a high performance Serial-to-Ethernet gateway which is designed for applications requiring quick, reliable and seamless integration of existing RS-232/422/485 devices to an Ethernet network. Boxer BMS 136/236 series Industrial Device Servers are high performance Serial-to-Ethernet gateway devices, designed for applications requiring quick, reliable and seamless integration of existing RS-232/422/485 devices to an Ethernet network. The series comprises two models – the single port BMS-136 and the dual port BMS-236. Boxer Device servers are highly reliable, utilising a robust steel case. They will operate fault-free in temperatures between -10 to 70 centigrade – ideal for most industrial sites. Boxer Device Servers provide a high level of immunity to electromagnetic interference and power supply surges typically found in industrial plant environments. Both models provide a range of versatile operation modes which provide a transparent data channel between serial devices and the TCP/IP network, so that the serial device can be accessed through standard TCP/IP protocols. Both models in the series can function as a TCP server, a TCP client or an UDP node on an Ethernet network, to fulfil versatile application requirements. In the case of network malfunctions, the devices have the capability to re-establish the TCP connection every 5 seconds. Each serial port on the device has a unique IP address and a port number for ‘Direct-IP mode ‘socket-based communication. Alternatively, serial ports can be mapped as a local COM port on a remote host computer to facilitate traditional serial communication. Boxer BMS 136/236 Device Servers can be accessed locally (Intranet) or remotely (Internet) via an intuitive, easy-to-use Web interface, Telnet and serial console access is also provided.
